Tulsa Police say two customers went to great lengths to stop a shoplifter from leaving a Lowe's store.

It happened at the Lowe's at 71st and Highway 169 a few minutes before 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015.

Police say the shoplifter rolled a cart with almost $600 in merchandise out of the store. He put the items in his vehicle and was attempting to leave when a customer tried to stop him.

While the man and the shoplifter scuffled, a female customer got into the suspect's vehicle and tried to take the keys out of the ignition but the shoplifter took off with her still inside. He eventually pushed the woman out. EMSA took her to a hospital with minor injuries.

Broken Arrow Police stopped the suspect on East Street. They say they found a small amount of illegal drugs in the vehicle and on the suspect.

They identify him as Jakob Garland, 23, of Broken Arrow. They booked him into jail on complaints of grand larceny, assault & battery, possession of a control dangerous drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

He was charged in a separate case for shoplifting from Lowe's in Broken Arrow on June 24, 2015. He's scheduled to be arraigned in that case next month.
