A Tulsa man hopes some of the things stolen from him are so unique they won’t be able to sell them.
Detectives said the burglars broke into a shed and stole about $40,000 worth of equipment, including three very unique items - two mock Indy race cars and a Jeep golf cart.
It's those items the owner hopes will get the thieves caught.
Joel Shaddy stores his large equipment he uses for his business and things that don't fit in his garage inside the shed, which caught the eye of a thief this past weekend.
“I think they got in a day or two early and cased it and then came back," he said.
They stole a large enclosed trailer, which he uses for work, along with two utility trailers, a Honda ATV and a Kubota tractor.
But some of the really unique items are also gone - his wife’s red Jeep golf cart and a yellow and orange mini race car - one of which had just been sold.
Shaddy said, "I sold the one Indy car to my grandson. He gave me $1 and I gave it to him, so I'm sure he misses that."
Shaddy's neighbor noticed the gate was open and called him.
When he walked inside he couldn't believe it.
"I was a little sick," he said.
The trailers were parked in the middle of the shed, but the Indy race cars weren’t as easy to get to.
"They were up high on the racks and had to use our tow motor. They hotwired the tow motor and used our tow motor to load them," Shaddy said.
He found the tow motor stuck outside in the mud.
Shaddy said, "This is where they hotwired it. They didn't have a key so they had to break into the ignition system."
One day, he hopes to replace his grandchildren's race cars and his wife's golf cart, but, until then, he hopes someone recognizes his stolen stuff.
Shaddy said he's increasing security.
Police believe the thieves left in a white truck or van. If you have any information, you’re asked to call the police.
