A Claremore toddler drowned in a swimming pool Wednesday, according to police. Chief of Police Stan Brown said the child's mother discovered the child in the family's inground pool.
Brown said their investigation so far shows the mother was getting ready to pick up another child from the bus stop, and the 14 month old got through a couple of baby gates and out the back door. The mother realized the child was missing, jumped in the pool and started CPR while another child called 911, he said.
Claremore emergency services personnel arrived and continued CPR, but Brown said the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There were two other children home during the drowning which the chief said is being investigated as accidental. Brown has not yet released the name or sex of the deceased child or the area where the home is located. He said they will release additional information when the investigation is complete.
