An Owasso-based company is recalling thousands of pounds of ready-to-eat chicken due to possible undercooking.

According to a news release from the United States Department of Agriculture, National Steak and Poultry issued the recall for more than 17,000 pounds of products produced on October 4, 2016.

The products include:

  • 5 pound bags packed 2 bags per case; product labeled “Distributed by National Steak and Poultry, Owasso, OK Fully Cooked, Diced, Grilled Boneless Chicken Breast Meat with Rib Meat” with Lot code 100416, and Case Code: 70020.
  • 5 pound bags packed 2 bags per case; product labeled “Hormel Natural Choice 100% Natural No Preservatives Fully Cooked Roasted Chicken Breast Strips With Rib Meat Natural Smoke Flavor Added” with Lot code 100416, and Case code 702113.

These were shipped to food service locations nationwide and shouldn't be in consumer's possession, the release says.

No other Hormel product was impacted.

The USDA said the problem was discovered when a food service customer complained to the establishment that product appeared to be undercooked.

No health issues have been reported at this time. They ask you to contact your doctor if you have concerns.
