The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says three people are custody after Homeland Security served a drug warrant early Thursday at two Tulsa apartment buildings. The huge heroin bust ended with three people in jail. Deputies said they are affiliated with a Mexican drug cartel.
A woman identified as Martina Lopez-Mojica was arrested at the Fiesta Apartments near 8th and Lewis.Authorities said Lopez-Mojica is a black tar heroin dealer and that heroin was smuggled from Mexico into the United States.
Two other people - Jessica Tartar and Michael Darling - were arrested at a complex near 18th and Boston.
Inside the Fiesta apartment, authorities say they found drugs, including heroin, hidden in a number of locations.
"We have found them inside the freezer, inside food containers, we've found heroin lodged inside light bulbs," TCSO Spokesperson Casey Roebuck said.
The Sheriff's Office said they also found $25,000 in cash at Lopez-Mojica's apartment. They said she's been under investigation since July.
TCSO says the agents recovered money and pills at the second apartment complex near 18th and Boston. The other two suspects, Tartar and Darling, were helping Lopez-Mojica, deputies said.
