Environmental artist Patrick Dougherty is in Tulsa right now, building an art display at the Chapman Centennial Green near 6th and Main in Downtown Tulsa.
Volunteers helped him gather the sticks, and he is weaving them together into sculptures.

Dougherty, who was born in Oklahoma and has sculptures worldwide, says the art is a way to increase interest and use of the park.

"I think that has been true. We've had a lot of well wishers coming by to see what we are doing," the artist said. "Maybe that will encourage them to step in."

This is Dougherty's 289th piece and says California and Ohio are his next stops.
