Muskogee Fire Department Offers Free Smoke Alarms

The Muskogee Fire Department is installing smoke alarms for free following a deadly house fire last weekend.

Muskogee firefighters say a 32-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy died after a home caught fire March 24th. Investigators think heaters may have started the fire.

They say the house did not have working smoke detectors. The department wants to prevent something like this from happening again.

"It really rings home for us as well as the public we want to reach out and let them know that that is an asset their city has so if you're in need please contact us and we'll take care of those smoke detectors for your home," said Assistant Fire Marshal Scott Crow.
