Three Oklahoma City police officers are being honored for their efforts to save the life of a man who overdosed.

Officer Joe Robertson, Officer Dustin Fulton, and Officer Logan Prather received Oklahoma City Fire Department’s Lifesaving Awards Tuesday morning.

According to the fire department, on August 20, firefighters and EMSA responded to a medical call near Interstate 235 and N.W. 36th Street. When they arrived, the three officers were already on scene, performing lifesaving CPR on the young man.

The officers had also administered Narcan, which is designed to block the effects of opioids and reverse a potentially fatal overdose.

“A young man is alive today because of the swift and decisive actions of these officers who went above and beyond their usual scope of duty,” officials with the fire department said in a news release.
