It was a chaotic scene in Seattle Sunday night as May Day anti-capitalists marched through the city.
Many of them lit fireworks, threw rocks, and hurled Molotov cocktails at police. Five police officers were injured and nine people arrested in the violent clashes. As the anti-capitalist protest got going, officers were already in riot gear, blocking marchers after walking just a block. Eventually the group turned around and made their way through downtown launching fireworks and smashing windows.
"Authority is the only rule there is and they are crushing us under their boot," said one protester.
The protesters even went after people. One reporter was spray-painted while covering the march.
Eventually, police lost their patience after several officers were attacked and used blast balls to try and get the protesters to disperse. When that didn't work, many were arrested.
Police said they collected several weapons during the protests, including metal pipes and at least one Molotov cocktail.
