A Blaine County man accused of stabbing his 8-year-old cousin to death has pleaded no contest to first-degree murder.

James Daukei, 21, entered the plea Thursday and was sentenced to life in prison. Prosecutors say Daukei, who also went by the nickname "Icey," snatched Rosalin Reynolds of Watonga from her bed in March 2011, and stabbed the girl several times in the chest.

Prosecutors say he was about to bury Rosalin when the little girl's father found them.

Daukei was found incompetent to stand trial in February; but after he received mental-health treatment, a judge restarted the proceedings against Daukei and declared him competent.
