The Rogers County Sheriff's Office and OSBI are investigating the death of an inmate after they suffered a self-inflicted brain injury.
According to Catoosa Police, officers arrested Lori Tedder at the Hard Rock Casino after she was seen running around the establishment screaming, wearing nothing but a bra and jeans. Officers escorted her off the property but arrested her after she became combative.
Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said Tedder suffered her brain injury after she was being combative in the jail. Tedder was given CPR and taken to Saint Francis in Tulsa.
Tedder's mother said she is heartbroken to be burying her daughter.
"My daughter has died as a result of an injury in that jail. I want to know every detail, and at this point in time there's no information as far as the medical aspect of it goes. I've had a verbal explanation how the accident happened," said Margaret Rafter, Tedder's mother.
Walton said he's working to get those answers for the family.
"There is no winner of these deals. We ache for the family. Somebody lost a daughter, a sister, a wife, or a friend. Nothing replaces that," Walton said.
Tedder's daughters said their mother battled mental illness all summer, and they just want to remember her as the loving, caring woman they once knew.
"It doesn't feel real. I keep thinking I'm in a dream and I'm going to wake up, and every morning I wake up I forget that she's not here," said Ashley Meyers, Tedder's daughter.
Walton said a person from the district attorney's office will meet with the family. They are also waiting for a medical examiner report to determine the exact cause of death.
