Authorities resumed the search Wednesday for an inmate who escaped from a transport van at a stop sign near the town of Morris on Tuesday.
The Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office believes 35-year-old Skipper Eugene Rowland may now be driving a red 1999 Ford F-350 flatbed truck with a white feed bin on the back. The truck has an Oklahoma tag number of 743JNF.
Authorities learned about the truck being stolen in the area where he was last seen.
Deputies and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol set up a perimeter to search for Rowland Tuesday, but the sheriff's office called off the search after learning about the stolen truck, believing Rowland had gotten out of their perimeter.
McClain County Sheriff Don Hewett said one of their deputies went to Muskogee to pick up Rowland for a court appearance. He said the van was stopped at a stop sign at Highways 52 and 266 when Rowland was able to get our of his handcuffs, kick open the back door and escape.
