Opening Statements Begin In Cedric Poore Murder Trial

Opening statements began Wednesday in the murder trial of a man accused of killing four women at a Tulsa apartment complex.

The jury was selected in the Cedric Poore trial Wednesday afternoon; it's made up of nine women and five men.

During the state’s opening, Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler showed the jury the picture of the door into the apartment where the four women were found dead.

During those statements, he described witness testimony from the scene of the crime. At the end of his statements, Kunzweiler said "it will be abundantly clear that these two brothers acted in concert."

Back in March, a jury convicted James Poore, Cedric's brother, in the killings of Rebeika Powell, Kayetie Melchor, Misty Nunley and Julie Jackson.

During Wednesday's proceedings, Cedric was very attentive, calm, and talked with his attorneys throughout.

The mother of the two sisters killed started crying even before entering the courtroom, saying this has been a long drawn out process.

She closed her eyes during most of the statements, especially when the state referred to the way her two girls were killed.

Evidence and testimony is set to begin Thursday.
