The Tulsa City Council is considering an ordinance that would pay for body cameras for the Tulsa Police Department.
The city got a grant of $599,200 from the U.S. Department of Justice to help pay for the cameras. The total cost of the purchase would be $1,249,200, so the city council will have to appropriate the other $650,000.

The money will buy 428 body cameras, which would supply most officers assigned to patrol duty. The purchase would include the data storage system and IT infrastructure to set up the system.
