A ten-month-old puppy is recovering after rescuers say he was thrown from a car.
"Both the police chief and my vet, Dr. McWilliams, had stated that the injuries are in line with being tossed from a moving vehicle," said Misty Bilby, owner of Amore pit bull rescue.
Glenpool animal control found the puppy in a ditch right off highway 75 and 141st street Thursday afternoon. His condition was so bad that he could not stay at the shelter.
"I got a post from the Glenpool animal shelter that this guy was in immediate need of rescue and that if a rescue didn't come forward, he would most likely be euthanized," Bilby added.
But thanks to Bilby, Asher's story took a swift 180.
She picked up the puppy and immediately took him to Jenks Veterinary Hospital where he underwent surgery that night.
Now, today, he's got plenty of wags and kisses to go around.
The money for his surgery is coming out of Bilby’s pocket like it does for most of the dogs she rescues.
And She's still not sure what this bill will be but says she'll make it work.
"We won't know until we get finished with it a week from Monday," she explained.
Now she says she hopes someone comes forward and turns in whoever did this to a puppy that only ever wanted to be loved.
"It makes me sick,” she stated. “It makes me question humanity."
Again, they found the dog near a ditch right off highway 75 and 141st street. If you were in that area and saw something, call the Glenpool police.
