Tulsa Public Schools put Columbus, Cooper, Disney, East Central Junior High, East Central High and Peary on lockdown until about 4 p.m.
Police are said they have one person in custody and are looking for another. They also said they're questioning two women - one of whom was driving a blue car involved in the gun fight.
One neighbor, Olin Boyer, was going out to get the mail and said he saw someone shooting out of the blue car, then watched the engine start smoking and the car blow a tire.
"They were having this gun fight. And this one car was chasing this blue car down the street and they were both shooting each other. That's where all the gun fire was," Boyer said.
Police said they don't know yet why they were shooting at each other.
