Governor Sets Special Election To Replace Tulsa County State Senator

A special election has been called to replace state Senator Rick Brinkley of Owasso.

A special election has been called to replace state Senator Rick Brinkley of Owasso.  Brinkley announced August 7, he would resign on December 31, 2015.

Governor Mary Fallin set November 10th as the date to fill his seat.

Rick Brinkley, a Republican, was first elected to the state Senate in 2010 and was unopposed for re-election in 2014. 

A lawsuit filed by the Better Business Bureau in Tulsa alleges Brinkley embezzled more than $1 million from the organization to pay his mortgage and "support a hidden gambling habit."
