TULSA, Oklahoma -- The family of an elderly dog bite victim is outraged. The 75-year-old Tulsa woman was taking her trash out early Tuesday morning when she says a neighbor's American Bulldog attacked her.
Now, her family can't believe the neighbor may get to keep the dog.
"Kept barking at me and I hollered, "Oh, shut up," and turned around and started walking back to the house and I felt like there was something behind me. I turned around and he grabbed me right here," Anne Sullivan said.
Sullivan said the bulldog attacked her, using his teeth to gnash her skin and drag her.
"Then he grabbed me right back here and pulled all of my britches off, completely off," Sullivan said.
It was 6:15 a.m. and Sullivan didn't care if she woke up the neighborhood.
"Yeah I was screaming, yelling, "Help, help, help," she said.
When the dog finally let go, Sullivan was bloody and bruised. She went to the hospital with wounds on her leg, lower back and had to get stitches on her arm.
Sullivan's daughter said the bull dog was on a tear even after the attack.
"I told the officer, ‘That's the dog,' and the dog charged after the officer, so he shot him with pepper gun or something like a pepper spray gun," Shirley Wagner said.
Animal Control took the bulldog, but since this is it's only documented attack, the dog can eventually return home.
"That dog is not worth a human being's life," Wagner said. "I think any dog that does that kind of damage needs to be put down."
"Either they are going to do something to that dog, or I'm going to kill it and I told the cops that," Sullivan said.
Tulsa Animal Control has the dog is in quarantine for the next ten days. After that, the owner can take the dog back home.
News On 6 could not reach the dog owner for comment.
