City Of Tulsa Names Firm To Develop Sustainability Plan

TULSA, Oklahoma – The City of Tulsa has selected a contractor for the development of the city's sustainability plan, Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett announced Wednesday.

URS will be paid $276,990 to develop a plan that will help the city become more energy efficient. The plan is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

"URS has a lot of experience developing similar plans and I'm confident they will help the City of Tulsa meet its sustainability goals," Brett Fidler, Director of The Office Of Sustainability, said.

URS, which has offices in Tulsa, will develop a plan that will provide the city with a "list of recommended actions that will significantly reduce the City's energy costs and consumption, help improve our air quality and also position Tulsa as a regional leader in sustainable government."

"This plan will give us a road map for our energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives for the next five to ten years," Mayor Bartlett said.

The company will begin work in January 2011. It's expected to be finished in June 2011.

URS was one of 12 companies that presented proposals to the city.
