The Department of Corrections said more than 60% of prisoners at the Eddie Warrior Correctional Center in Muskogee County have tested positive for COVID-19.
The DOC said more than 800 women live in open dorm units at the center, and 504 of them have the virus. All potentially exposed prisoners are quarantined and getting tested.
The center is still providing prisoners three meals a day, medical care, phone calls and outdoor recreation time.
"Those are the inmates’ constitutional rights while they're in our custody and in our care, and we do everything possible to ensure that those core needs are met,” Justin Wolf with the DOC said.
The center is providing staff with additional PPE and is not allowing visitors right now.
