A Tulsa Church is raising money to put on weddings for homeless couples who can’t afford a service.

The church helps couples find rings, clothing for their special day and helps them pay for their marriage license.

Something old. Something new. Something borrowed. Something blue. We all might have an idea of the way a wedding day is "supposed" to look and while Shea'Ree and Danny Mackey’s wedding might not be conventional, it was everything they hoped for and more.

Shea'Ree and Danny live at a homeless shelter right now with their kids. They say they're trying to get back on their feet and feel like getting married is one more step in the right direction but they would have never been able to afford their special day on their own.

"As a pastor, I don't charge for weddings. As a church, we don't charge for weddings. If I do 4 hours of counseling with them, I can give them a letter, they take it to the courthouse and instead of paying 50 dollars for a marriage license, it only costs them 5 dollars," said Wesley Chapel Pastor Chris Beach.

Shea'Ree and Danny are two of hundreds of homeless men and women who attend Sunday morning service at Wesley Chapel. The community donates wedding clothes and food for the reception- sometimes enough money is donated to get the couple a night at a hotel or motel, instead of staying at a shelter or on the streets. The couple says people have mocked them for their decision to get married, and while those comments were hard to hear- they believe their family is moving forward.

"People don't understand the words they say to people and how it affects them," says groom Danny Mackey.
