State health leaders plan to hold a news conference Thursday morning on the planned arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine in Oklahoma.

That news conference will be held through Zoom at 11 a.m.

The State Department of Health, and health commissioner Lance Frye will also be answering questions after.

The first doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine are expected to arrive in Oklahoma next week, between December 10 and 14. The Moderna Vaccine will arrive around the 22nd.

The state is planning to receive 30,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and around 10,000 doses from Moderna.

This first round will be reserved for front-line workers, and Hospitals across the state are already preparing areas to store the vaccine. Pfizer's formula has to be stored at negative 100 degrees.

“We have actually ordered additional cold storage, which we think will be here before the time. But we actually have some capacity to accommodate if we need that,” said Darin Smith from St. Anthony’s.

Both Pfizer and Moderna are awaiting emergency approval from the FDA. Pfizer's hearing on that is scheduled for December 10th.

News 9 will be carrying the news conference live on air and online.
