1 Dead, 1 In Custody After Washington Co. Fight Escalates Into Fatal Shooting

Washington County deputies are investigating a deadly shooting south of Ramona that left one man dead.

Officials said one man was shot and killed and that they do have another man in custody.

Officials responded to a shooting call in Washington County near Highway 75 and W 4050 Lane Monday afternoon.

The Washington County Sheriff said the two men were friends and were working on a vehicle in the yard of a home, when they got into a fight. The Sheriff said the fight escalated into a shooting, and although family called 911 and tried to perform CPR, one man died.

Sheriff Scott Owen said it's an unfamiliar scene for the normally quiet neighborhood.

"This is not an area where we have a lot of calls. So this is a little out of the ordinary for us here in this neighborhood," Owen said.

He said the investigation will continue over the next week.
