A Sand Springs family lost part of their home in a fire Monday morning that was started by lightning.
The homeowner has his roof patched now, but the morning started with a lightning bolt and neighbors beating on the door telling him the house was on fire. Sand Springs Fire responded and got the fire out but there was already substantial fire damage, mainly in the attic of the house.
There's now water damage throughout and because the fire started in the top part of the house the smoke detectors didn't sound. The people inside on the bottom floor and everyone got out safely.
"I got up after my wife said she smelled smoke, and neighbors started banging on the door saying the house was on fire, so we got out," said Bruce Plante
