Law enforcement is rallying around a Tulsa Police detective who is hospitalized with COVID-19.

Thursday night, dozens of his fellow officers flashed their police cars’ lights and prayed outside Saint Francis hospital.

There was support in the sky and from the top of the parking garage across from Saint Francis Hospital, where Detective Bill Bonham is being treated.

Bonham has had several roles in his 24 years with the Tulsa Police Department. His supervisor told News On 6 the husband, father and grandfather has been in hospital for two weeks and is currently in the ICU.

News On 6 saw people gathering from one of the hospital floors to watch the lit-up police vehicles.

Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 93 president, Jeff Downs, said participants also want to thank all healthcare workers and first responders for their dedication.

“This pandemic has affected everybody in the most harshest way, and we’re all just trying to find ways to cope with this and to reach out,” said Downs. “So us, as public safety workers, we want to help.”

Downs also said the FOP fund will help the Bonham family as needed.
