Tulsa police are investigating after they said a driver hit two police cars and the officer shot the driver Saturday.

Police said the driver was a male and he was shot near 40th and Charles Page Blvd.

According to officers, the scene began when a 65-year-old man was allegedly driving recklessly in downtown Tulsa. Police said he was speeding, then breaking before hitting a police cruiser.

Eventually, police met the driver near 40th and Charles Page, where he hit another cruiser again. Police said his actions caused the officer to shoot him and they're still trying to figure out the timeline of events.

"At this point, one officer fired his weapon. I couldn't tell you how many officers were standing out here at the same time, I know there were two officers present, but I couldn't tell you what the other officer was doing," Capt. Richard Meulenberg said.

Police said the driver was in critical condition when he taken from the scene in an ambulance.
