Storms With 100 MPH Winds Leave Behind Damage In Tulsa Area

Damage has been reported in Hawthorn Bluff camping area on Oologah Lake after a line of severe storms swept through Saturday.

A storm system with significant winds triggered Tornado Warnings, uprooted trees and damaged homes across Green Country overnight as wind gusts reached almost 100 miles per hour.

Tornado sirens rang out across Green Country due to the significant winds that reached nearly 90 miles per hour, according to Meteorologist Alan Crone.

Damage reports including uprooted trees, damaged homes and downed power lines are being reported all across Oklahoma. In Tulsa, News On 6's Lex Rodriguez reported a large tree down in the road on Riverside Drive at E. 35th Pl.

DAMAGE REPORTS IN TULSA:

1. Downed trees near 51st and Harvard.
2. West Tulsa, Southwest Boulevard.
3. Downed trees, damaged homes near 71st and Garnett.
4. Stilwell has trees down, power outages.
5. Reports of downed trees in Chouteau, Mayes County.
6. Downed trees in Sapulpa
7. Trees uprooted, blocking roads in Sand Springs.

The Tulsa Police Department confirms that many streets across the city are covered with fallen tree limbs and the majority of stop lights are out of service.

TPD says the Emergency Operations Center has been activated and PSO is working to restore power.

Police also say to never drive over downed power lines and large tree limbs.

Chief Franklin with the Tulsa Police Department said on Twitter that gas leaks are being discovered in the city and if you smell gas, evacuate the area and call 911.

POWER OUTAGES:

1. The strong winds associated with this storm have the potential to knock out power for much of the area. Several areas are already without power in Payne, Noble, Kay and Lincoln counties.
