Tulsa police are investigating a shooting that took place at a residence near 81st Street and South Memorial Drive on 73rd East Avenue on Thursday night, leaving a child injured.

According to officials, the incident unfolded when an officer driving along Highway 169 around 10:30 p.m. was passed by a speeding car.

After pulling the vehicle over, the driver exited and ran toward the officer, saying someone had been shot.

While investigating the scene, police learned that a gunshot victim had arrived at a local hospital.

Officers spoke with the victim's mother, who said they were at the house when gunfire erupted, and her child was hit.

The mother provided officers with possible suspect information.

A witness in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a vehicle on the street near the scene.

Police have not released the age of the victim, but they confirmed the child remains hospitalized.
