TULSA, Oklahoma -- Evangelistic Temple School and Trinity Episcopal Day School are both closing at the end of the current school year.
Evangelistic Temple Senior Pastor Norman Wilkie said it was a "difficult but unavoidable conclusion" to close "in spite of all the efforts of many talented and dedicated individuals."
The school is located in the 5300 block of South Peoria and served all grades. An employee said the downturn in the economy impacted enrollment when parents could no longer afford private school tuition.
Wilkie said in statement the church made a "significant financial investment" into the school but the cost of the school could not be sustained for another year.
