A plane made an emergency landing next to Highway 75 on Friday afternoon between 91st street and 81st street.
Authorities called this a close call for the pilot of the plane, but thankfully the pilot walked away unscathed.
Tulsa Fire Department said that the pilot told dispatch he had an engine failure and went down in a small field off Highway 75. TFD said the pilot also told dispatch he is okay.
The Fire Marshal said the plane, a Cessna 182 Dash P. Flight started Friday morning in Ohio and flew to Jones Riverside Airport without any incident. The Fire Marshal said the plane took to head to Wichita, Kansas and experienced engine failure about five minutes after taking off. He said the pilot turned back and landed next to Highway 75 in the grass.
"It was an ever-evolving, rapidly-changing situation, we didn't really know what we had," Sgt. J.W. Sherrill said. "Fortunately, I'm kind of proud of the pilot, he landed in an area where he didn't disturb the traffic but he also didn't disturb other people or injure anybody."
