City Of Tulsa Looking To Fill Critical Job Positions

The City of Tulsa is seeking to fill critical jobs, specifically in many of its labor and trade positions.

City leaders say there could be a number of possible explanations for why they're not seeing a lot of applicants right now.

Some point to the lingering pandemic while others say people receiving their stimulus checks could be a reason.

Right now, the city of Tulsa needs Plumbers, Electricians, Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Operators, Parks Utility Workers and Water Operators.

Director of Streets and Storm Water, Terry Ball said many of these positions offer opportunities for advancement.

There are benefits like medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, paid vacation, floating holidays, and sick time. Ball said they hope to be able to fill these positions soon.

"We have seen a real lack of applications and we would really like to get the word out that if you are looking for a job, the city is a good place to look,” Ball said.

Entry level jobs start around fifteen dollars an hour. However, Electricians and Plumbers are going to pay a lot higher than the entry level labor position.
