An urgent search is over for a 10-year-old boy who Tulsa Police confirm was found safe Thursday night.
Police said Aaron Bryant was reported missing Wednesday night near 61st and Peoria and his mom said he's back safe and sound Thursday night.
Aaron's mother Amber Bryant said it's the biggest sigh of relief in her life. She said the past 24 hours have been horrible and she's so glad she can hug her baby again.
Amber told News On 6 that Aaron spent the night at a Tulsa apartment complex north of downtown with some other boys she didn't recognize.
Around 7 p.m. Wednesday night, Aaron went missing around the Savanna Landing apartments. Amber said she called police when Aaron didn't come home.
News On 6 received many comments from viewers asking why an Amber Alert wasn't issued. Police said very specific guidelines must be met, like a confirmed kidnapping and suspect descriptions.
"There are narrow guidelines for it to qualify as an Amber Alert," Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Muelenberg said. "We have to have knowledge of an abduction or a belief there was an abduction and he's endangered as a result."
Amber said she is grateful for all the help from police, neighbors and people who helped with the search for her son.
