Sand Springs Police: Woman Killed After Being Hit By Car On Highway 412

A woman is dead after police say she was hit by a car while walking on the Sand Springs Expressway. Sand Springs Police say the accident is still under investigation since officers are trying to figure out why the woman was trying to cross such a busy highway in the first place.

Police told News On 6 that just before 9 p.m. Sunday night a woman was walking across Highway 412 in Sand Springs near 129th West Ave. when she was hit by a car driving down the highway.

Police say she was dead when they arrived and the driver is not being investigated for any improper actions.

Police closed the westbound lanes between Highway 97 and 129th West Avenue exits and did have to divert traffic onto Highway 97 until about 2 a.m., but all lanes are back open now.

SSPD said the accident is still under investigation at this time as they work to find out why this happened.

Police have not yet released the name of the woman who died.

This is one of two separate crashes that happened on Highway 412 overnight Sunday into Monday.
