A man is behind bars in connection to a double murder in Broken Arrow.
He was taken into custody in a Bixby neighborhood and neighbors said they were shocked to see federal agents blocking streets and telling people to stay inside.
“It doesn’t matter how safe you feel, you are not always really safe,” Bixby resident Billie Jo Thomas said.
It was sight to see Friday afternoon for Thomas on her way home.
“I picked up my daughter from school because she gets picked up early and as soon as I was pulling into the driveway, I saw FBI,” Thomas said.

As a precaution, to keep everyone safe, law enforcement blocked off a street in a Bixby neighborhood near 151st street and Harvard. Thomas said law enforcement asked her to leave, as the FBI, U.S. Marshals, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol SWAT team took a man into custody at a home.
Sources said he’s a person of interest in the deaths of two men found Thursday in Broken Arrow’s Haikey Creek Park.

Out of abundance of caution, Bixby West Elementary and Intermediate Schools were put on lockdown for a short time. Thomas said the scene was intense for someone who’s not used to such things near their home.
“The neighborhood was quiet but obviously, where all the action was, it was pretty intense,” Thomas said.
Thomas and her daughter were eventually able to get back to their home, which was just yards away from the scene. Thomas said to find out that the arrest had to do with a homicide taught her that you never know who’s nearby.
“It was surprising and shocking for this neighborhood, we are a quiet neighborhood, everyone is friendly here,” Thomas said.
The FBI is still not releasing any information since this is an ongoing investigation.
