People who live in Terlton worry about traveling to and from their homes after rain washed out a bridge this week.
No one is able to drive through the washed away bridge on county road 5605, forcing people who live there to find another way home.
“This is the bridge that goes to our house,” Resident Deana Moorehead said.
Like all the neighbors who live in the area, it’s the only way in or out for Deana Moorehead. After yesterday’s rain washing the bridge away, the road is now a dead end.
“There are some very sick people up here, so I am really concerned,” Resident Jason Beaird said.
Beaird said this happens almost every time it rains.
“People here now are disabled or have health issues and they have no money to put on the bridge now,” Beaird said.
According to County Commissioner for District Three, Barry Donnelly, the road is a private addition, which means residents are responsible for maintaining it. However, he said the county has helped in the past. Donnelly said a neighbor has agreed to allow the road on his property to become an access road.
“That goes out to another major road, so people can get in and out, so they are not stuck,” Donnelly said.
Beaird said he's contacted several Oklahoma agencies and hopes some assistance will come soon.
