A Tulsa mom said she doesn’t feel safe in her home after thieves broke in, stole a bunch of her stuff, and trashed the place.

Kasey Meyer said the break-in happened when she went on vacation. Meyer said she and her son need a safe place to stay but finding a new place will harder because of what the burglars took.

Meyer and her son moved into Windsong Apartments in April.

"I made that home a home for him and he can't even go in his room. His birthday is on the 12th. It's crazy and I worked hard,” said Meyer.

Meyer said she came back early Wednesday morning from vacation to find her apartment burglarized, and much of her property gone.

"Lotion to baby diapers to baby wipes. My child's room, drug paraphernalia everywhere,” said Meyer.

Meyer also said the burglars painted profanity on her walls.

"These people are more than criminals. They're evil. I feel it getting worse at night trying to go to sleep,” said Meyer.

She said the thieves tried to steal her car’s catalytic converter and broke into it.

"They cut the pipe and left a blade. And the steering column, I guess they were going to try to get it started,” said Meyer.

Meyer just wants a safe place to sleep.

"I'm not asking for anything other than to be moved. I am clearly not safe. I have video surveillance of my child and I not safe,” said Meyer.

Meyer said she can get out of her lease, but since she is a participant in the Tulsa HUD housing program, she must go through an extensive process to be re-homed.

"I can't even go apply for another apartment complex due to the fact that they got my socials. My birth certificates,” said Meyer.

Greg Gossard, president of The Hampstead Companies, said in a statement, “We are aware of the incident at the Windsong Apartments in Tulsa, and our property management team is working closely with the tenant to support her through this difficult time. We are also cooperating fully with local law enforcements’ ongoing investigation.”

"I'm tired of being the victim. I just want to be left alone,” said Meyer.

Meyer filed two police reports with the Tulsa Police Department.

Officers said the reports haven't made it into the system yet but hope to assign them out early next week.
