Tulsa police said a man was arrested after he crashed into a car behind a Brookside bar and then pulled a gun on witnesses who were trying to get him out. Officers said a gunshot was fired during the encounter but nobody was hurt.
Tulsa police said officers responded to a shots fired call behind Sharky’s Bar near 34th and Peoria. They said the suspect, David Martinez, was found at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators Martinez got into his car while intoxicated and backed into another car. Police said they tried to get him out of the car but he pulled out a gun.
Police said a gunshot was fired during the incident but the bystanders were able to get the gun away from Martinez. They said the gun was thrown over the roof of another Brookside business.
“He didn’t want to cooperate with those individuals,” said Lt. Matt Arnold, Tulsa Police. “The individual struggled over that weapon, a round was discharged into the vehicle where at that point, individuals struggling with the suspect got the gun away from him.”
Police said they were able to find the gun in a nearby parking lot with the help of their helicopter and the Tulsa Fire Department. Martinez faces charges of DUI and having a gun while intoxicated.
