Friday, Tulsa county deputies said more teenagers are causing problems at the fairgrounds this year at Tulsa's State Fair.
Deputies said they're seeing groups of teenagers getting dropped off at the fair without supervision. Tulsa Sergeant Mike Moore said the teenagers are causing problems with fighting, bringing knives and guns to the fairgrounds. He said teens are getting dropped off without enough money to enjoy the fair attractions than start causing problems.
“Once those resources are gone if they run out in the first hour with a corndog and a coke and ride a couple of rides those resources can run out. Now they’re just left to roam around they get with friends get with other friends and that the parents may not even know about and next thing you know they’re causing problems," said Sergeant Moore.
Moore said 10 teenagers have been arrested since the start of the fair. He said 9 of those were gun-related arrests. He hopes to see more parents enjoying the fair with their kids this weekend as the 11-day event wraps up.
“Come out with your kids have a good time. Have supervision and then when it comes time to go everyone leaves together. That’s what I would encourage. You know this is just definitely not a place to drop off your 15 16 years olds and say go have fun for a couple of hours," said Sergeant Moore.
Sergeant Moore said they’ll have staff from Tulsa county juvenile center at the fairgrounds Friday and Saturday night. He said if teenagers are arrested at the fair, parents will have to pick them up from the juvenile center.
