Changes begin as Bristow's Medical Center goes under new ownership.
The hospital will be closing temporarily as the new company, Carrus Health, works to become compliant with the state.
At midnight Friday, the doors will be closed. While some things are still uncertain, Bristow's mayor says he's confident things will be better soon.
"Endeavor will be walking out, and Carrus will be taking over," said Rick Pinson.
Bristow Mayor Rick Pinson said the city is excited for changes to the town's hospital but there will be some time before it can open again.
"The people deserve top notch healthcare, and they are in need of it," he said.
Texas-based Carrus Health will begin operating the hospital at midnight.
Jordyn Case with Carrus said the outgoing owners will take the licensing with them, so Carrus must wait for new licensing from the state before opening.
She said there are also many deficiencies Carrus is looking to fix.
"Those are mainly life safety, infection control, and electrical," said Case.
Pinson said he's hopeful their E-R can be back up and running in a few weeks and hopes the hospital will be fully operational again in a few months.
Until then, two ambulances will be on standby for emergencies.
Physical therapy services will become outpatient but still available.
Bristow's Utica Park clinic will also remain open.
"We want as little lapse as possible," Case said.
Case said once Carrus takes over the current facility, they'll add 10 beds and new equipment.
They also have plans to build a new hospital right behind the current one.
Pinson says the city will keep everyone up to date and is excited for the new owners.
"People of Bristow are defiant, we're going to be just fine," Pinson said.
"It's out with the old and in with the new in 2022," he added.
In the meantime, Carrus said it hopes to have a clinic opened soon.
Statement from Owner/CEO of Bristow Endeavor Healthcare:
"Bristow Endeavor Healthcare’s 12-year tenure at Bristow Medical Center is coming to a close later this week. This is bittersweet for myself, my leadership team, and the staff who have dedicated their professional lives to serving the healthcare needs of the greater Bristow area. We feel so proud of the fact that we were able to keep the doors of Bristow Medical Center open, and often have maintained the mindset that even if we didn’t reach our ultimate goal of opening a new facility in Bristow, that at least the community would have “one more day” of healthcare. There were times when it was dicey and uncertainty washed over my leadership team, but we always rallied and made something out of nothing to keep those doors open without sacrificing the quality of care we provided.
After working hard to get a tax passed to continually support healthcare in Bristow, The Bristow Hospital Authority made the decision to rethink our position as operator of Bristow Medical Center. The Bristow Hospital Authority decided to initiate a Request-for-Proposal process where they accepted bids for the hospital operations. They chose to move forward with a different operator which solidified the exit date for Bristow Endeavor Healthcare as December 31st, 2021 just before midnight. The next operator will be taking over operations after our departure.
Our organization will still have a place within this community as we move forward with operations at Bristow Family Practice / Urgent Care and CORE Outreach Specialists. We feel these services remain vital to the Bristow community."
