A three-year-old has died after a mobile home caught fire in Rural Collinsville.

The Collinsville Rural Fire Protection Fire Chief Jimmy Wilson says they got a call early Sunday morning about a child trapped inside a mobile home that was on fire at Horsepen Creek Park, just a mile north of Collinsville. He says three people made it out of the home, but the child did not. He says a woman was taken to the hospital with burns.

He says several people responded to the fire, and the cause is under investigation.

“It was fully engulfed by the time we got there, it already broke out the windows, and once it does that, doesn’t take long on a mobile home," Wilson said.

The name of the three-year-old has not been released.

Wilson says if you do not have a smoke alarm in your home, the fire department will install one for free.
