A Tulsa woman is using her quilting skills to help those in Ukraine. She made a quilt of Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and she's selling it to raise money for the people there.

Devida Bushrod lives in Tulsa now, but she's originally from Britain. She said seeing the war in Ukraine has been hard.

”Being away from home and being that bit further away it just felt like there wasn’t as much that I could do," said Bushrod. She said she was inspired when she saw how the British were helping Ukrainians.

“I’ve just been really touched wit how much the English people have kind of stepped up and embraced the Ukrainian people and just wanted to be able to do something like that and give back even though we’re far away,” said Bushrod.

She combined her love for sewing with her passion and handmade a pixel quilt of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The quilt has nearly 2,000 pieces of fabric in 10 colors sewn together, creating a picture of Zelenskyy in military clothes.

“He is on a fundraising page that you can get on my website by pixel quilts dot com and it’s a suggested donation of $2 and that will be one entry into essentially a raffle to win him,” said Bushrod.

She plans to give the proceeds to the United Nation's Childrens Fund, or UNICEF, which helps children and families. One donor will get the Zelenskyy quilt. Bushrod hopes this money can help Ukrainians.

“Any way they need help. If it’s shelter, if it’s food, if it’s medicines, if it’s help relocating to safety, anyway,” said Bushrod. The Zelenskyy quilt fundraiser is currently live and will end on April 30. Click here to access the fundraiser.
