Select House Committee Prepares For Seventh Hearing On Jan. 6 Capitol Attack

The House committee investigating the January 6 insurrection is expected to present evidence Wednesday that those who stormed the Capitol were responding to a direct invitation from then-President Donald Trump, as he became more desperate to try and reverse the election of Joe Biden.

“We will lay out the body of evidence that we have that talks about how the president’s tweet on the wee hours of December 19th of ‘Be there, be wild,’ was a siren call to these folks,” said committee member Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) on “Meet the Press” Sunday.

The panel is expected to present testimony from men who were part of the violent mob, as well as from Pat Cipollone, who served as White House counsel under President Trump. Cipollone met privately with the committee last Friday.

This will be the panel’s seventh public hearing.
