Bodycam Footage Released: Oklahoma State Football Player Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI

OSU starting safety, senior Trey Allen Rucker was arrested by Stillwater Police for suspected DUI and a suspended license. Stillwater police has provided the body camera footage from Rucker's arrest.

Rucker was arrested just after 9 a.m. Sunday morning, about 12 hours after Oklahoma State’s game wrapped up in Iowa.

“On Sunday morning around 9:09 am officers were dispatched to the area of Miller and Main in reference to a possible motor assistance,” said Lt. TJ Low with Stillwater Police.

“Hey, you okay? What's wrong with the car,” officers ask in the body camera footage. “You're just stopped in the middle of the road.”

Officers said they smelled alcohol in the car and on Rucker’s breath.

“He also had a suspended driver's license,” said Lt. Low.

Later in the body camera footage, the officer explains the events leading up to the arrest.

“Somebody called me and said you were stopped in the middle of the road and when I got here the light turned green. I was sitting over there and you were just sitting here for the whole light cycle,” said the officer.

“I was northbound here. His light turns green and just like the calling party said, his vehicle’s not moving he's just stuck there,” said the officer. “By the time I turned left he kind of moved forward, stops again, but his chair leaned way, way, way back.”

Lt. Low says Rucker refused a breathalyzer without an attorney present but was given a field sobriety test.

“The officer established clues to indicate that Rucker was under the influence of alcohol or some intoxicant during that traffic stop,” said Lt. Low.

This isn’t Rucker’s first run-in with Stillwater police. In 2021, Stillwater police were dispatched after a driver ran into multiple parked cars. Rucker was the driver in that incident, and was arrested for hit-and-run, assaulting an officer, and DUI. Rucker pled guilty in court, and all of the charges were dropped to misdemeanors. But, because this isn’t Rucker’s first DUI in 10 years, if he is convicted this time around, he could be facing a criminal felony charge. In both incidents, Rucker made it known to police he played football at OSU.

“I’m an Oklahoma State… I'm an Oklahoma State. I'm an Oklahoma State player,” Rucker yelled to officers during his 2021 arrest.

Sunday, he told officers he was on his way home from watching film at Cowboy Stadium.

“We hold everybody to the same standards as the next person. It's not going to be an automatic to get out of a ticket or an arrest if you say you're an OSU player,” said Lt. Low.

OSU athletics tells us they’re aware of the situation, and that head coach Mike Gundy will give more information next week during his weekly press conference. Rucker was booked in the Payne County Detention Center for complaints of suspected DUI and a suspended license. He bonded out on his own recognizance. A judge has been assigned to the case, but no court dates have been set.
