Sapulpa Parks Debuts 'Story Trail' To Promote Reading, Enjoying Outdoors

A park in Sapulpa debuted a new activity for children and their families to promote reading and getting outside.

The new "Story Trail" at Kelly Lane Park has 30 podiums around a section of the park trail.

Each podium has a page of a children's book, so by the time people make it through the trail, they will have finished a book.

"Our goal was to promote literacy, promote movement, and promote time outdoors, especially with your friends and family," said Sapulpa Parks community engagement manager Susan Bencke.

There are also activity stations related to the books along the trail.

Sapulpa Parks said it will change the featured book every three months.

The Story Trail is part of a city-wide partnership and was paid for by private donations from the Sapulpa community.
