A special event honored the life and legacy of Oklahoma's Own legendary lawman Bass Reeves on Saturday.
The memorial celebration was held in Muskogee at the Three Rivers Museum.
Reeves was the first Black Deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi River, and went on to become the longest-serving Deputy U.S. marshal of the "old west".

"He was also a Muskogee policeman, and his beat, his last beat as a policeman, was out here at the end of the museum, starting on 2nd street."
Muskogee is also where Reeves died in 1910.
Reeves leaves behind a legacy as one of the greatest lawmen in U.S. history, and a new Paramount+ series is sharing his story.
