Description
These meatballs are great as an appetizer or snack. They’re also great served over pasta or mashed potatoes. The honey-bourbon mixture is an MIO winning combination. You’ll love this sauce so much, you may find other ways of using it in addition to meatballs!
Ingredients
- 2 Equally Yolkes Eggs
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons chopped Scissortail Farms Basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 pounds ground beef
- ½ cup panko bread crumbs
- 2 cups ketchup
- ½ cup Roark Acres Honey
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- ¾ cup Hochatown Distilling Co. Bourbon
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 3 minced garlic cloves
Instructions
- Preheat oven: To make the meatballs – Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Mix eggs, Italian seasoning, basil, salt, pepper and garlic powder together in a large bowl. Add beef and panko, mixing thoroughly.
- Shape mixture: Shape mixture into about 40 (1 1/2-inch) balls. Place on ungreased, rimmed baking sheets.
- Bake meatballs: Bake about 15 minutes, turning halfway through cooking time.
- Make sauce: To make sauce – In a mixing bowl, combine ketchup, honey, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, bourbon, red pepper flakes and garlic.
- Slow cook meatballs: Place meatballs in the slow cooker. Pour sauce over and stir to coat the meatballs. Place lid on and set the timer to 4-5 hours on low.
- Stir and serve: Stir meatballs, and serve hot.
