Oklahoma Cat Cafe Plans Tulsa Location

Tulsa’s first cat cafe is officially coming to the Farm Shopping center at 51st and Sheridan and it’s bringing a lot of excitement to the cat fans and coffee lovers in Green Country.

Don’t Stress Meowt’s owner said their OKC cafe has been a big hit and they’ve found the perfect place to bring their cuddly concept here.

“Can we operate as a coffee shop that also has cats?"

That was Adam Fitzpatrick's question after he and his wife Michaela opened up Don’t Stress Meowt in Oklahoma City last year and said it wasn’t easy, but their cat lounge and coffee shop is now a destination.

“We’ve gotten 140 cats adopted since May," said Adam.

Entry to the cat cafe’s lounge of adoptable cats is by reservation only to make sure it doesn’t get overcrowded.

But there is a separate coffee shop with food and local pastries.

Adam says they put cleanliness at the forefront, and they make sure their cats and the food never mix.

The cat cafe partners with local shelters to get cats adopted and give them some cat therapy along with their daily dose of caffeine.”

Now that Don’t Stress Meowt is expanding to the Tulsa location at 51st and Sheridan, Adam will find a local shelter like the Tulsa SPCA to bring cats to the cafe.

“It’s a more fun place for the cats to be if they can spend time out of the shelter as they wait to be adopted. That's always preferable," said Kyle Paddock with the Tulsa SPCA.

Kyle Paddock with the SPCA hopes they can work with the cat cafe because he says it’s just another way to spread the joy of getting a pet.

"We believe human-animal bond and connection is incredible," Kyle said.

“We’re ready to reinvigorate that part of the city, ready and proud to be part of the Tulsa community and help build that up as well," said Adam. 

Adam said they are also going to have an art wall where artists can sell their work at the Tulsa location as well.

He is aiming to be open sometime in October.
