Oklahoma City Social Service Agency Seeking Volunteers To Help Kids As School Start Date Nears

As the start date for schools across the state nears, an Oklahoma City school and social service agency helping families out of homelessness says time can be the most precious gift of all.

For those wanting to help kids get back to school but dealing with strained finances, Positive Tomorrows allows an opportunity for people to help.

Relying on more than 100 volunteers each school year, Positive Tomorrows looks for those willing to step forward for things such as mentorship, throwing birthday parties, hosting a club, and serving meals.

Most of the volunteer opportunities cost no more than an hour or two a week.

The CEO of Positive Tomorrows said she is just as excited to come to work as the children they help are to see them each day.

"They want you to be here," Margaret Creighton said. "They'll be outside with their faces pressed against the window waiting for you to come."

Positive Tomorrow's staff said committing to volunteer work is so important, as these kids look forward to you coming every week.
