Federal health officials are getting the word out about immunizations as kids head back to school.

Doctors say it’s critical they get their routine vaccinations so they are protected against diseases like measles.

Earlier this year, a CBS News investigation identified at least 8,500 schools where measles vaccination rates among kindergartners are below that 95% threshold that the CDC identifies as crucial for protecting a community from measles.

If your children still need required vaccines, there are a few events coming up that can help.

Tulsa Public Schools is holding its 8th annual Back to School Community Resource Fair this Saturday.

It will be at the Expo Square SageNet Center from 9 until noon.

The Tulsa Health Department will also have a resource event at its North Regional Health and Wellness Center on Friday from 2-8 p.m.

The Oklahoma Caring Van will also have more than a dozen free public clinics around Tulsa from this week through the end of August. Click here to view the schedule.
