BARTLESVILLE, OK -- Witnesses in Bartlesville were outraged over the weekend when they say they saw a couple injure a baby and two children. The couple now faces charges.
Witnesses tell police a baby was thrown twice, once to the ground and another time in a bush. Two children were also dumped from a stroller, witnesses say.
Gene William Lee, 29, and 33-year-old Geneva Stephanie Marie Curtis were arrested at about 10:00 Saturday night near the Budget Inn in west Bartlesville.
Bartlesville Police Chief Tom Holland tells The News On 6 the two were leaving the motel with their children when they got into an argument with some bystanders.
Lee had a baby in a carrier on his chest. Chief Holland says Lee took the baby out and threw the child to the ground. Curtis then threw two children from their stroller, witnesses told police. As officers arrived to the scene, Lee was seen throwing the baby again, this time into a bush.
Lee and Curtis ran away, but were soon found and arrested.
Officers found a bag of marijuana in Lee's sock. Lee has been charged with possession of a controlled drug. Chief Holland says after the arrest, Lee appeared to be more concerned about what would happen to his bag of marijuana than the kids.
Lee and Curtis have both been charged with child abuse.
